Material Accommodations

• Use audio books
• Use pictures for directions and schedules
  
• Incorporate large-print text for worksheets and student books
• Simplify directions with key words for main ideas

Teaching Strategies

• Give explicit step-by-step instructions  orally and written
• Use picture cues for directions and schedule changes
• Have consistent daily routines
• Implement small group teaching
• Provide  notes from lessons or organizers to fill in after or follow along during
• Pre-teach important and new concepts

Class Work Strategies

• Provide extra time for reading and writing
• Offer different ways to respond like orally responding, circling answers vs. filling in blanks, etc.
  
• Utilize letter/number strips 
  
• Use sentence starters to begin written examples
  
• Show multiple examples of work that is correct to serve as a good model
  
• Arrange problems during work from easiest to hardest
  
• Partner up students to study/work - one person writes while the other speaks,etc.
